The Lord of the Rings star had his fingerprints and DNA taken before having a pre-arranged interview with officers
Sean Bean arrived alone at a police station yesterday to be quizzed over claims he has been harassing his ex-wife.
The Lord of the Rings star had his fingerprints and DNA taken before having a pre-arranged interview with officers.
He was arrested after allegedly sending actress Georgina Sutcliffe, 34, abusive texts and calls.
The 53-year-old turned up at Holborn police station in Central London at 12.45pm wearing a blue baseball cap and mustard coloured cardigan.
Bean was bailed as officers continue to investigate the claims.
Georgina, his fourth wife, is believed to have been told of the arrest last night shortly before she appeared in the West End production of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap.
A source said: “Georgina’s a smashing girl and she just wants to get on with her life and move on after the divorce.
“There’s been no suggestion of there being violence involved or threats but police take harassment allegations seriously.”
A Scotland Yard spokesman said last night: “I can confirm a man was arrested on suspicion of harassment yesterday and bailed until a later date.”
Bean first met Georgina in 2003 when she was managing the bar at the West End theatre where he was playing Macbeth.
The couple wed at Marylebone register office in February 2008.
They shared a house in Belsize Park, North London.
She reportedly left Sheffield-born Bean – star of ITV1 drama Sharpe – the same year but they got back together again.
However they split for good and the actor, now in new hit HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, was granted a decree nisi at the High Court in London on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences”.
He was previously married to hairdresser Debra James and actresses Melanie Hill and Abigail Cruttenden.
Bean wed school sweetheart Debra when he was 21.
The marriage collapsed after he moved to London to study at Rada.
They divorced in 1988.
Melanie, best known for playing Aveline in TV comedy Bread, became his second wife in 1990 and the couple had two daughters together.
Their marriage lasted seven years.
Soon after the split, Bean confirmed he was dating Abigail, who he met on the set of Sharpe.
The couple married in 1997 and their daughter was born the following year, shortly before they split.
A spokeswoman for Bean did not respond to calls last night.
Georgina’s representative said she did not wish to comment.
