Royal leg-bombing: Kate Middleton bares her pins in daring thigh-high split gown

Following in the dainty footsteps of Angelina Jolie at the Oscars, Kate Middleton dared to bare in a full-length gown slashed at the thigh.

Here’s the Duchess of Cambridge going to great lengths to look glamorous tonight – and pulling it off superbly.

She arrived at the prestigious Thirty Club with husband Prince William to give a speech after accepting a long-standing invitation by bosses.

But Kate, 30, stole the show in a full length, fitted cream evening gown – thought to be a £1,000 Roland Mouret Lombarde creation, similar to one Carla Bruni wore to a French banquet in 2010.

And there were shades of Angelina Jolie’s famous leg-bombing episode on the Oscars’ red carpet in Kate’s thigh-high split gown.

William, who will be 30 next month, followed in his mother Princess Diana and father Prince Charles’ footsteps by speaking at the club.

The engagement was a private one and, unlike most of the royals’ speeches, the contents were being kept secret.

A source said: “William has been asked several times to speak at the club but he has decided this year is the right time to accept as it is a landmark year for him and a landmark year for the royals.

“It will be a very intimate function.”

The prince looked smart dressed in full black tie as the couple arrived together on the red carpet for the event at London’s Claridges Hotel.

The Thirty Club is the advertising and media’s most secretive and elitist dining club. It meets monthly at Claridges.

Kate was wearing a £485 pair of Jimmy Choos with 5-inch heels.

The website tonight said there was a waiting list to order a pair.

What’s the betting the duchess didn’t have to wait for hers?

Happy anniversary! How William and Kate have spent their first year of marriage

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrate their paper anniversary on Sunday

Before they were married, Kate and William were like any young, loved-up couple.

They made the most of their secluded cottage in Anglesey and enjoyed doing things any normal couple would like: ordering pizza, eating out, doing the weekly shop or popping to their local, The White Horse, on William’s Ducati motorbike.

They even took trips to London to hang out with friends in clubs like Raffles and Whisky Mist.

But since the wedding it’s been a different story, with 50 days apart, 135 royal engagements and two months away from home.

Any plans they make have to be authorised by their security team, safety checks have to be made on any locations they visit and they have to travel with bodyguards at all times.

It’s hard to imagine how this wouldn’t have an impact of their relationship, especially when Kate has to inform her aides when she wants to do something as simple as cook William a romantic dinner on his first night back from the Falklands , or pick him up from the airport herself.

But in true Kate style, she seems to be taking the transition – which she’s been receiving counselling for since before the wedding – in her stride.

However, the hardest thing for her is the amount of time she’s having to spend away from William.

The six weeks he spent completing his marine pilot training in the Falklands have been especially difficult.

Particularly as it meant they missed their first Valentine’s Day as a married couple, although Wills made sure Kate received a card and flowers.

He also bought Kate a Cocker Spaniel puppy they named Lupo to keep her company while he was gone, but still, Kate confessed she “missed him terribly” even telling a fellow marine pilot wife, “I don’t know how you manage, I miss William so much when he goes away.”

She’s got him back with her now – but with the Olympics , the Queen’s Jubilee and their Malaysian tour this summer, it doesn’t look like they’ll have much quiet couple time.

Luckily, William has got plans for things to be a little different in 2013.

“William has told Kate that next year is going to be ‘their year’,” a source has said.

“He says she’s made him ‘the proudest man on earth’ with how she’s handled the past year but he recognises they need to spend some time together as a couple.”

We look forward to seeing it…

Feeling broody, Kate and Wills? Duke and Duchess of Cambridge play doting parents as they coo over baby at event for South Pole trek soldiers

The ‘is she, isn’t she?’ rumours concerning the Duchess of Cambridge and her pregnancy status begun to swirl even before the ink had dried on her marriage certificate.

And Kate’s quirk of holding her bag in front of her tummy; outfit choices like yesterday’s peplum jacket that appeared to conceal the stomach – or that occasion when she refused to eat peanut paste on a UNICEF visit – only add fuel to the flames.

But whether or not there is a royal baby coming in the near future, today Kate and Wills proved that when they do provide a royal heir to the throne, the royal pair will make natural parents.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were charmed by three-week-old Hugo Vicary, the son of a soldier the two met at an event they attended today.

William held the infant – the son of one of the adventurers – in the crook of his right arm and looked down with loving eyes.

He was joined by Kate, who, when she chatted to the baby’s proud parents, Vic and Hanna Vicary, described their son as ‘very cute’.

Hugo Eric Scott, dressed in a Superman romper suit, was born three weeks ago today and his name features tributes to both Mr Vicary’s father who died in March and the famous British polar explorer.

Mr Vicary, 41, from Cornwall, a Warrant Officer Second Class with the Rifles, trekked to the South Pole in the footsteps of Captain Scott, with a team led by Warrant Officer Mark Langridge.

PIC: Somber Pippa Middleton Steps Out for First Time Since Gun Scandal

Not quite the bubbly Pippa the world is familiar with.

On Friday, Pippa Middleton came out of hiding in central London. Wearing a trendy color-block blouse, leggings, heels and sunglasses, Duchess Kate‘s 28-year-old sister wasn’t in the mood to smile as she headed into the Rosano Ferreti Hair Spa.

It’s the first pic of the socialite, entrepreneur and world-famous royal bridesmaid since she was photographed in Paris last Saturday; Middleton seemed to be laughing as she sat in the front seat of an Audi convertible alongside the driver, who pointed what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol at a lurking photographer.

The photos (as seen in the new Us Weekly) sparked controversy, and even potential fines and jail time for Middleton and her three pals, when they emerged earlier this week.

Middleton had been in hiding, reportedly at the Middleton family home in the English countryside, since the incident.

No word yet on when Middleton will be questioned by French authorities.

While she never addressed the scandal, one of her friends in the car, Viscount Arthur de Soultrait, released a statement to Us Wednesday.

Queen Elizabeth Gives Camilla an Esteemed New Title ©

Queen Elizabeth Gives Camilla an Esteemed New Title
From the Duchess of Cornwall to Dame Grand Cross, Camilla has arrived.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Norway's Queen Sonja visit Troldhaugen residence, home of famous Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, in Bergen, March 21, 2012.

Queen Elizabeth granted 64-year-old Camilla, wife of her son, Prince Charles, the highest female rank in the Royal Victorian Order to honor Camilla on her seventh wedding anniversary. She is now a Dame Grand Cross. The Queen has the sole right to bestow ranks to individuals who serve her or the monarchy.

The thought of Camilla working her way so strongly into the hearts of either the English people or the monarch once seemed far-fetched. Camilla was, at times, at least partially blamed for breaking up Charles and Princess Diana and was less than admired when she married Charles. The second marriage for Charles put the monarchy in a conundrum of what title to give Camilla, still not referred to as Princess of Wales out of respect for Diana.

But as Camilla has proven a more than capable royal, the public has widely accepted her. The Duchess of Cornwall has represented the monarch and Prince Charles hundreds of times in the last seven years in public events both at home and abroad.

The newest Dame Grand Cross was recently seen at a London event with the Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge (we once knew her as Kate Middleton), surely a powerful royal trio. And they all have the titles to back it up.
